Poetry is central to our culture, and that it is capable of being the most powerful and transformative of the arts. There are poems that have, literally, changed lives, because they have changed the way the readers or listeners have looked at and listened to the world. Books en Beyond has always believed in raising the bar and pushing the limits of imagination by bringing to us beauty in all its forms. Thus was born the idea to organize ‘Sham e Adab’ A Poetic Evening, with noted poets Meenakshi Jijivisha and Ankita Singh on July 19, 2019. This amazing evening was redolent with spirituality and soulfulness as the celebrated bards mesmerized their audience with soulful renderings and shed a “sideways” light on the world, so the truth sneaks up on the avid listener.  Poetry teaches us how to live, and the venue was simply vibrating with a blanket of joie de vivre. Meenakshi Jijivisha has an amazing talent for juggling ideas, memories, and thoughts to bring something beautiful on paper and verse. On the other hand, Ankita Singh possesses a poet’s soul that knows what is going on around us. She expresses herself by picking up a pen and saying what’s going on in her mind and thoughts.
